Finland-based wind turbine gear and industrial gear manufacturer Moventas establishes a subsidiary in Australia. Australia has an impressive footprint in heavy industries. Mining and minerals processing, fiber & paper, sugar and coal industries are all globally important. Also the demand for wind power is in rapid growth.
 
- Moventas has a large installed base and long lasting customer relations especially on the industrial gear side in Australia. This step gives us capability to locally support our customers both technically and commercially and provides good opportunity for us to expand our service business network. The outlook for wind power is good as well, which makes the country even more attractive to us, says Olli Välimäki , Senior Vice President for Moventas service division.

The new company in Australia, Moventas Australia Pty Ltd, will serve as a sales contact for both service and capital sales customers. At the moment Moventas is exploring alternatives to manage comprehensive gear service.

Olli Välimäki estimates that the Australian office will be in operation in the fall 2010.
