Moventas, one of the biggest wind gear manufacturers in the world, and The Switch, the
leading supplier of megawatt class permanent magnet generators and converter packages,
both Finlandbased, have collaborated to develop a revolutionary power train solution for
wind turbines.

One of the biggest wind gear manufacturers in the world, Finland-based Moventas, will build up wind gear assembly capacity in USA. The new facility in Portland will serve the growing customer demand in the USA markets by the end of the year 2010.

Wind and industrial gear manufacturer and service provider Moventas has entered a frame agreement on the gear service of Metsäliitto´s manufacturing sites.

Wind market has not recovered from the financial crisis as quickly as the industry expected. The fastest growth will in the future be in North America and Asia, where Moventas wind gear business will now also focus more and more. As a consequence, the operations in Jyväskylä are adjusted to match the market situation and demand of the future.

Moventas is to supply mechanical power transmission equipment for drum pulpers manufactured by Andritz. This is Moventas’ largest single order for drum pulper ring gears. Startup inspection services are also included. The deliveries are scheduled for 2010. The value of the order will not be disclosed.

Finland based power transmission provider for wind turbines, renewable energy and other industries, Moventas, will provide the whole mechanical power transmission solution to a large pulp drying machine in North America.

Finland-based wind turbine gear and industrial gear manufacturer Moventas establishes a subsidiary in Australia. Australia has an impressive footprint in heavy industries. Mining and minerals processing, fiber & paper, sugar and coal industries are all globally important. Also the demand for wind power is in rapid growth.

Economic crisis and industry challenges were clearly visible in the year 2009 results for Moventas, wind gear and industrial gear manufacturer. Net sales was EUR 237,4 million, 38 % less than in 2008 when the growth was at its height. EBITDA was EUR 11,8 million, 5 % of net sales.

Moventas, one of the largest wind turbine gear manufacturers in the world, sells its factory in Parkano to Takoma Oyj. The target for the transaction is to relieve capital for expansions in USA and in China. Debt-free transaction price is approximately 11 million euros. To support the investment in USA, Moventas was granted 4,1 million dollars tax credit from President Obama's stimulus package.
