Moventas is investing in its service center in China to expand the center into a IG manufacturing unit. The service center located in Suzhou near Shanghai will start to manufacture industrial gears by the end of year 2011.

This investment is in response to our customers' wishes to start local manufacturing of industrial gears in China. In addition, it demonstrates our commitment to serving customers locally in the growing markets of China and the Asia-Pacific region according to company strategy.

Manufacturing will concentrate on helical gear units for the pulp and paper, mining and mineral processing industries as well as other selected industrial solutions. Manufacturing of these gear units and related components as well as customer-specific volume products fulfill all the requirements according to Western quality standards.

Currently, the service center in Suzhou is a full-scope gear service center, serving customers in various process industries over the entire life-cycle of a drive solution as well as the wind power industry, either in-house or on-site. Its service scope covers everything from engineering and installation to start-up, through condition monitoring, maintenance and audits to modernization projects. We also provide replacement parts, spare parts and repairs of a quality that only an OEM can supply.

Moventas has a large installed base of application-tailored gear units and several thousands of modular gear units supplied under the brand names of Metso Drives, Santasalo, Valmet, Sauerwald, Asea, Wärtsilä and Rauma-Repola in China and other parts of the Asia-Pacific region. Expanding the Suzhou service center  in to manufacturing unit of industrial gears in China, further strengthens Moventas' capabilities to locally serve customers in rebuilds, modernizations and new installations together with gear service.
