Multi-segmented ring gears from an original supplier
Moventas Santasalo supplies technologically advanced drive applications with high reliability and low running costs for lime burning kilns, cement kilns, incinerators and dryers. We have a strong global position in these applications for minerals, steel, cement, chemical and sugar industries, and pulp and paper industry applications.
The special and unique concept of the multi-segmented ring gear is originally developed by Moventas Santasalo. With more than three decades of experience in large multi-segmented spur ring gears, we also offer helical design where preferred.
We design and deliver a complete package, including auxiliary drives, main gearboxes and bedplates. The multi-segmented ring gears are machined to exacting tolerances, up to AGMA10 or ISO7 for certain applications
Moventas Santasalo employs application-based design techniques to ensure that each ring gear is engineered to provide the optimum drive solution for both new installations and replacements.
- Gear wear is minimized by the use of Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI) in castings.
- ADI has the high strength to weight ratio required together with high resistance to fatigue and wear for long ring gear life.
- Highly accurate production and assembly techniques minimize vibration and further enhance the long service life of the ring gear solution.
- Finite Element Method (FEM) is used to calculate the loads and stresses on the ring gear enabling the design to be optimized for specific applications.
