May 22, 2008 Moventas strengthens its operations in ChinaMoventas expands its operations in China by establishing a Competence Center in Suzhou. The expansion supports Moventas’ growth strategy both for industrial and wind gear businesses, strengthens the global network and improves customer service. The Competence Center in Suzhou will primarily serve the industrial gear business. Since many original equipment manufacturers and paper mills are located in the area, there is a strong local customer base especially in the paper industry. The Competence Center in Suzhou will also serve as a common sourcing platform for both business areas and it also supports the growth of the wind gear business in the Asian market. The expansion of the sourcing network to China is an essential part of Moventas’ global growth strategy. The Suzhou Competence Center will provide local customers with sales and service support. In addition to comprehensive gear service and sales, the Competence Center will have limited assembly operations and resources for purchasing and logistics as well as for technical support. The existing Competence Center in Shanghai will continue its current operations and offer technical and sales support for customers within the fiber and paper as well as minerals industries. Moventas will establish a limited liability company with 100% foreign ownership in China. Competence Centers in Shanghai and Suzhou will operate under the new company.
