Maximizing the power-weight ratio

Material selection, engineering and state-of-the-art technical solutions all contribute to maximizing the power-weight ratio of Moventas' gear units.

In Moventas' gear units, strength is optimized at critical points. By establishing the loadings in different components, it is possible to optimize the dimensioning and thereby maximize the power-weight ratio.

The innovative use of special materials and structures leads to a very high power-weight ratio. For example, castings for Moventas' gear units are of a special quality. The housing structure is another example: it is welded and shaped to produce thin yet very rigid structures which minimize the weight of the housing. In addition, the thermal capacity of welded steel structures is high.
