Torque density of the modern wind turbine gearboxes keep increasing. This has led into need to implement new bearing concepts such as hydrodynamic plain bearings. In the concept design phase, it is important to be able to use analytical models to define basic dimensions and run iterations to reach the most optimum design.
For the successful completion of this task the thesis candidate needs to have strong understanding of physical phenomenon in hydrodynamic systems and the causalities to surrounding components.
This work will require presence in our Jyväskylä facilities to make it easier to co-operate with inhouse experts.
